Staying with nomad families is the best way to discover a lot about the centuries-old nomadic lifestyle and their culture. The nomads are totally self-sufficient on their five kinds of animals (horses, sheep, cattle including yaks, goats and camels) and move with their mobile and collapsible dwelling “ger” in search of better pasture and water for their animals from a place to place all year round.

Overview

In this tour, you will discover Khorgo and Khogno Khan park, Kharkhorin, the ancient capital of the Mongolian Empire, as well as the other landmarks of the Arkhangai, Uvurkhamgai Province  such as its Volcan and lakes. Also we staying in Mongolian traditional accommodation called ger with nomadic people and ger camp. You will , hike, camel and horse riding and on an amazing adventure.

Itinerary

Day 1 Visit in Ulaanbaatar

Arrival at the airport, meeting with our driver and guide. Transfer to your hotel, settling in and rest. We will take you in the restaurant. Let's immerse ourselves in the heart of the Mongolian history, in the wonderful National History Museum. Three floors of a rich, glorious, violent and noble past, from prehistory to Soviet period, including the creation of the great Mongolian Empire by Genghis Khan. Walk in the centre of Ulan-Bator. Discovery of Gengis Khan Square and the House of Parliament. Then Mongolian traditional show: folkloric dances, contortion, and of course khoomi, the overtone singing. Welcome dinner in Mongolian style restaurant. Overnight in the hotel. B/L/D

Day 2 Travel to Ugii lake

Toady we will drive to Ugii lake (360km about 5-6hours). The lake is located in the centre of Mongolia, and in the territory of Arkhangai province is one of the biggest lakes of Mongolia and has 27 km squire area . Ugii lake abounds in various types of fish and birds, which creates an incredible natural beauty. On the way we will visit to Khar Balgas ruins, was the capital of the first Uyghur Khaganate, built on the site of the former Göktürk imperial capital. Overnight in host ger with local family by lake. B/L/D

Day 3 Travel to Kharkhorin

Today we will drive to Kharkhorin (for 2 hours about 80km). Journey to Kharkhorin, the former capital of Mongolia. The legendary city of Genghis Khan was founded in 1220 and was one of the stages of the silk road.  Visit of Erdene Zuu Monastery built in 1586 by a nomad prince. The Chinese and Tibetan-inspired buildings are surrounded with 108 sacred stupas. Visit of the Museum of Kharkhorin. Overnight in another nomad family and explore more about the nomadic life. B/L/D

Day 4 Kharkhorin-Tsetserleg (Cenral Mongolia)

Drive to Tsetserleg town, its capital of the Arkhangai province (117km for 3 hours). We will drive to Taikhar Rock (30 km from Tsetserleg). Taikhar Rock is a large granite over 18m high rock formation. Geologically, the rock was separated by Tamir river systems in millions years from north side of the mountain. Stay in a ger neighboring the nomad family. B/L/D

Day 5 Journey with nomad family

Staying with the nomads and discovery of the activities bound to yacks breeding. During our stay, we participate in many nomadic activities : making dairy products, picking cowpats, milking the animals. Welcome dinner with the nomad family. Overnight in an extra ger of the nomad family by river Tamir. B/L/D

Day 6 Travel to Great White lake

We will drive to the Khorgo-Terkh National Park (161 km for 3 hours). On the way, we will stop at Chuluut River Canyon scenic spot. The Terkhiin Tsagaan Nuur is also known as Great White Lake in the Khangai Mountain range in central Mongolia with relatively pure fresh water. The lake is 16 km wide, about 4-10m deep with its deepest point at 28m and over 20kms in a length. It is flooded 61sq.km and the lake has pike and other fishes. Overnight in an extra ger of the nomad family by lake. B/D/L

Day 7 Climbing to the Khorgo Volcano

Today after breakfast, we possibly arrange trek to the Khorgo volcano. Once we get there we will climb to a volcanic crater, the Khorgo at 2100m. From the summit there opens a splendid view over the landscape and the lake and rest of the day free. Optional: you can take a boat tour in the lake or fishing. Overnight in an extra ger of the nomad family by lake. B/D/L.

Day 8 Khorgo-Tsenkher

We will drive to Tsenkher hot springs, where you can lounge in the hot springs of the camp (200kms for 3-4 hours). The water is at 85,5°C. In a pleasant verdant wooded area, some yurts camps with equipment and baths with a less hot temperature have been set up for the travelers. Tsenkher hot springs have healing properties notably on articular diseases and nervous system’s diseases. Composition: sodium carbonate, hydrocarbonate, sulfate, fluorite, hydrogen sulfide. Overnight in ger camp. B/D/L

Day 9 Travel to Orkhon Valley

Today we will drive to the Orkhon Valley (136kms about 4 hours). Inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, the valley is a land of nomad-ism and many breeders set their summer camp there. Once at the camp, you can do some fishing, play archery, volleyball, pétanque, or just relax. Overnight in the ger camp by river Orkhon. B/D/L

Day 10 Visit Orkhon Waterfall

Toady we will be walk or horse riding visiting Ulan Tsutgalaan falls white flood flowing on the black stone, transformed in rainbow by a short sunray (7km from camp). These 16-metres falls are just magic! They were formed 20.000 years ago, as a result of a unique combination of earthquakes and volcano eruptions. Afternoon visit a local horsemen family where you have an opportunity to experience their way of life, their culture and traditions. Dinner is real authentic Mongolian barbecue, prepared in the traditional style with hot stones. Overnight in the ger camp by Orkhon river . B/L/D

Day 11 Travel to Mini-Gobi

Up early morning we will drive to the splendid rocky formations of Khogno Khan (170km for 5 hours). Discovery of the park: semi desert, steppes, taiga, stunning rocky formations, 80km long sand dunes, are characteristic of this arid area nicknamed "Mini-Gobi". Visiting a local nomad family conversing about their unique lifestyle of the local area. They’re very hospitable friendly hosts which they will offer a traditional delicacy made of camel’s milk. Camelback trek along the sand dunes of Elsen tasarkhai. Overnight in an extra ger with local family. B/L/D

Day 12 Khogno Khan-Ulaanbaatar

Back to Ulaanbaatar (250kms about 4 hours). Last herds of wild horses crossing the road outside our dumbfounded eyes, last gers smoking far away, the steppe will be with us until the last moment. Arrival in town and settling in at your hotel, where you can rest a few moments. Rest of the day free. With our guide, you can go and shop in the center of the city. /B/L/D Optional: Ulaanbaatar by night (night club or pub)

Day 13 Departure

Breakfast at the hotel. We go with you to the international airport of Ulaanbaatar. The transfer can be organized at the time you want, according to the schedule of your flight.

For your journey in Mongolia, it is possible joining a fixed departure tour with a group, which has the advantage of providing a friendly atmosphere and to let you benefit from the best price. Our groups are composed of an average of 3 to 12 participants.

We offering camel riding, horse trekking and hiking tour based on local community. Nomadic families live in the area are main parts of the tours. They will supply camels, horses, meals, and accommodation for tourists.
