Project location:
The Orkhon Valley National Park, the Orkhon River Basin, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the Ministry of Nature, Environment and Tourism, and the Special Protected Areas are all based on ger camps that are officially licensed for eco-tourism.Uvurkhangai aimag, Bat-Ulzii soum, 1st bag, Tsagaan burgas elbow, “Orkhon Eco” tourist camp located on the bank of Orkhon river.
Project rationale:
In the Orkhon River Basin, 17 species of fish of 12 families, 4 species of amphibians, 7 species, about 70 species of mammals of 17 families and 245 species of birds were recorded. Of these, 4 species of fish, 8 species of mammals are endangered, one species of fish, 3 species of mammals are endangered, 2 species of mammals, 17 species of birds are rare, 2 species of mammals and 5 species of birds are very rare.
Global warming and climate change, including in the Orkhon River Basin, Mongolia's largest mineral deposits pollution of the Orkhon River by gold mining operations is affecting the basin's ecosystem, degrading the habitats of wildlife, including fish and aquatic microorganisms, and changing species composition.
